Silver Halid Diffusion CTP Plates

Silver halid diffusion CTP plates are also referred to as Lithostar Ultra plates. Early CTP technology mainly adopted photosensitive technology that realizes direct plate making of a computer by laser scanning of the photosensitive material on the plate. The material gets exposed during the scanning process. In spite of diversity in photosensitive plate material types and photosensitive mechanisms, the core photosensitive material of all early CTP plates was silver halide. Because of this very reason, the early generation of CTP plates are referred to as the silver halid diffusion version. Its greatest advantage lies in fast exposure speed. Up to now, it remains to be the fastest of all materials, defeating both thermal ctp plates and violet laser polymer plates.

Silver halid diffusion CTP plates are mainly divided into three types: upward diffusion type plate, downward diffusion type plate and silver salt&PS composite plate. Owing to obvious weaknesses in comparison with the other two types, the plate is gradually stepping out of the stage. Because of the speciality of its photosensitive materials, the plate has always been expensive. It has poor suitability, dissatisfying printing durability and special requirements about the ink. Further more, the plate’s high photosensitive speed can only be realized by strict operation in a completely dark room. The storage room of plates must be free of light, too. Unexpected failure in any procedure will make the plate scraped. Such strict requirements about environment bring about great difficulty to the printing work. Last but not least, the image developing of silver halid diffusion plates produces toxic liquid waste that pollutes the environment. Nowadays, this type of CTP plates are being less and less widely applied.
