Not a few people are searching answers to such a question: Does an aluminium sheet price rise with the sheet's square? The answer is positive under the condition that the thickness of the sheet is stable. For example, the price for a piece of 5052 H32 0.1mm aluminium sheet of 1000 square meters is higher than that of 100 square meters. In this perspective the price of aluminium sheets does relate to their square.
If, however, we are talking about an aluminium sheet of the same thickness yet different specifications, the aluminium sheet price is not necessarily higher when its thicker. As known to all, aluminium sheets can be divided by standards of alloy number, annealing state and even surface treatment. Alloy numbers can play a decisive role, especially when they are of different alloys. The gap between prices of 1050 and 1060 sheets might be small, but the case would be different in other occasions. The aluminium 7075 t6 price per kg, for instance, proves to be higher than that of 1050 aluminium sheets no matter what temper and surface treatment method the latter have. As for annealing states, H tempered sheets are cheaper than T tempered ones. Surface treatment methods incorporate mill finish, color coating, embossing, anodizing etc. Mill finished sheets cost less than sheets of other methods. If a sheet embodies several of these methods, its price would rocket. Believe it or not, anodized color coated embossed aluminum sheets do have a market.
Another thing worth mentioning is that the price for aluminum plates of conventional sizes is generally cheaper, and more expensive for those of ultra widths, ultra lengths or irregular specifications. The main reason is that these aluminum plates need customization and naturally the production cost comes up.
