As a kind of aluminum mirror sheet, they are of 0.2mm to 8mm thick. The surface of polished sheets is reflective, but the reflectivity varies with a sheet’s application, generally ranging from 85% to 98%. If a sheet is only for decorative purposes, low reflectivity is enough, but if it’s used for reflective sheets like solar panels, high reflectivity is preferred.
Polished aluminum sheets feature light weight, good corrosion resistance and long service life. The aluminum metal has a density of only about one third of copper and steel, the first two of regular industrial metals. This makes it much lighter than other metals. In other words, an aluminum sheet of one square meter weighs only one third of a 1-square-meter steel panel. As the metal reacts to oxygen quickly after contacting the air, a thin layer of oxide aluminum comes into being on the surface, functioning as a protective film of inner aluminum metal against corrosive materials. An aluminum alloy sheet plate shows even stronger corrosion resistance, because the mixture of aluminum and alloying metals improve the sheet’s performances in this regard. Light weight and excellent corrosion resistance help to extend the sheet’s service life substantially.
One thing worth mentioning is that when you choose polished aluminum sheets for sale, you need some skills. Although price usually matches quality, it doesn’t sometimes if you lack in purchasing skills. Good quality polished aluminum mirror sheets have a surface that does not blur after being touched and wiped.
