The 3000 and 5000 series are more expensive than 1000 ones, boasting better performances in either hardness or erosion resistance. 5xxx 3mm plates, in particular, serve as ideal materials for marine panels with light body and extraordinary seawater-erosion resistance. ‘60’ and ‘70’, the hardest of all alloys, enjoy the highest price, too, since they cost more in both raw material and production. The aluminum 7075 price per kg, for instance, can be times of higher than 1050 aluminium.
　　Not all buyers of 3mm aluminum plate sheets, however, are sure about what alloy they need. And asking them for a specific alloy number only frighten them away. In such a case, the end use of the sheet would be a better piece of information. As a purchaser, if you are not clear about the alloy number of an aluminium sheet, just tell your supplier about your application for it, and they will be able to recommend the most suitable alloy and specification for you. If you need to floor a building, for example, cold rolled aluminium sheet 3000 and 5000 are enough, although hot rolled 6000 also suits you well, but they are way too expensive.
