Aluminium sheet grades

 Haomei supplies 8 series of aluminium sheet grades as below.

1xxx grade: 1050, 1060, 1070, 1100

The aluminium content of these are respectively 99.5%, 99.6%, 99.7% and 99%. 1xxx is the softest and most vulnerable to rust of all grades, used in cookware, electronic units, decorative objects etc.

2xxx grade: 2A06, 2A10, 2A12, 2A16, 2014, 2017, 2024, 2124, 2224, 2524

Also known as an aircraft grade aluminum sheet metal grade, 2000 aluminum sheets are characterized by high hardness, among which the copper content is the highest, about 3-5%.

3xxx grade: 3003, 3004, 3105, 3104, 3A21, 3104, 3005

3000 aluminum plates take manganese as the main component, and the content is between 1.0-1.5%. The anti-rust function is better than 1xxx and can be used in the humid environment of conventional industries, such as building decoration industry, electronic manufacturing industry, automobile manufacturing industry, etc. The color coated 3003 and 3004 aluminum sheets are a high-quality roofing material of houses and vehicles, while coated 3104 and 3105 sheets serve as beverage can materials.

The 4 series aluminum plate is an aluminum-silicon alloy, which has the characteristics of high strength, good wear resistance, low thermal expansion coefficient, and easy casting. It is the most ideal material for manufacturing automobile and motorcycle internal combustion engine pistons.

5xxx grade: 5052、5005、5083、5A05

These are usually used in anti-rust conditions for vehicles, marine building etc. The main element of 5000 aluminum plates is magnesium, and the magnesium content is between 3-5%. 5xxx sheets are a regular material for aluminium tread plate. The main features are low density, high tensile strength, high elongation, and good oxidation performance. Anodized 5005, 5052 and 5083 aluminium can be made into cell phone shells.

6xxx grade: 6061, 6063, 6082, 6005, 6060, 6005A, 6101

6xxx aluminum sheets are cold-treated forged products, which mainly contain magnesium and silicon. They have much higher corrosion and oxidation resistance than 5xxx, and have extremely high toughness. Commonly used in aluminum checker plates, precision instrument parts, hardware, pistons, valve parts, molds, etc.

7xxx grade: 7075, 7005, 7050, 7A04, 7A09

As a heat-treatable alloy of aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper, 7xxx is the other aircraft aluminium grade in addition to 2xxx. Among the 8 aluminum sheet series, the 7 series aluminum plate is among the best in hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. It is used for high-stress structural parts and mold manufacturing.

8xxx grade: 8011

8xxx grade aluminium is more frequently made into rolls rather than sheets. 8011 aluminium sheet is made into ropp caps and gaskets.

 

Aluminium sheet grades are classified by the alloyed metals, and each grade are further divided into varied alloys with differed properties and applications. Mastering them will be a long arduous journey.
