Spray Coating of Aluminium Flat Strip

The phrase “aluminium flat strip” has been used to differ itself from aluminum profile strip or even aluminum bars. Generally it simply refers to aluminium strips obtained by slitting of aluminium rolls. As an irreplaceable industrial raw material, it’s wide applied for transformers, high frequency welding aluminum spacers, heat exchanging fins, cables, punching, composite plastic pipes, shutters etc. Over the years some terms have been developed to distinguish aluminum strips of various usages, like aluminum edge strip, aluminum strip for air cooler fin etc.

The main purposes for spray coating of aluminium flat strip are decreasing and oil removing. The methods are similar to the coating of liquid paintings. Putty should be applied properly in accordance with defect degrees of the strip surface. After the putty gets dry, the strip can be sprayed with coatings. In a field of standing static electric, the firing power is connected to the electrode and the strip to the ground as a construction circuit. The powder, sprayed out of the air spray gun, gets onto the strip with a negative charge. The product must be re-sprayed in case of scratches, needle bubbles, or spots free from spraying. Aluminium flat strip becomes more corrosion resistant in this way. Aluminium products have a natural corrosion resistance because aluminium reacts to oxygen quickly after being exposed to the air. The generated protective film can only be destroyed under a strong reaction between halide and alkali ions. Spray coating improves such a corrosion resistance effectively and extends the strip’s service life eventually.
