Coating processes of vinyl coated aluminum coil stock
Color coated aluminum coil is an aluminum product that is currently used more widely. And one of the most frequently applied one is vinyl coated aluminum coil stock, widely used in machinery and home decoration. Its coating processes include brushing, scrape coating and dip coating.
Brushing is the earliest, simplest and most traditional manual coating method for vinyl coated aluminum coil stock. It is easy to operate and flexible. It can be applied to items of any shape, and it’s suitable for all kinds of coatings except for paint with fast drying and poor leveling. The brushing method allows the coating to penetrate the pores of the metal surface and enhance the adhesion of the coating to the metal. Disadvantages are high labor intensity, low work efficiency and poor coating appearance.
Dip coating is also a traditional coating method for vinyl coated aluminum coil stock. The aluminum coil stock is immersed in the bath containing the coating, and then taken out, during which the excess paint drips back into the bath or is removed mechanically. The method has large solvent loss and huge air pollution. It is not suitable for volatile coatings, and is generally used for equipment or workpieces with complicated structures.
The three coating methods mentioned above for vinyl coated aluminum coil stock must be selected carefully in practise in order to obtain the best coating effect.
